Insulated Box Preparation for Overnight Shipping – Original Protocol

Box Contents:

• One large cooler

• One small cooler

• Six Blue Ice packs #1002 or small white ice packs- to be stored @ 5°C or 15°C upon arrival depending on the type of germplasm

• Two Blue Ice Weekender blocks #1034- to be frozen upon arrival

• AndroPRO Plus Boar Semen diluent powder or another powdered medium

• One package of 50ml falcon tubes

• Bubble wrap

• Mailing label- this should be in the sleeve behind the incoming address label

Directions:

1. Pack small cooler with the Blue Ice packs #1002 or small white ice packs that were precooled to the appropriate temperature for the germplasm (either 5°C or 15°C) so they surround the falcon tubes/germplasm samples on the bottoms, sides, and top. Secure lid on small cooler with tape.

   
   

2. Place small cooler to one side in the large cooler.

   
   

3. Place the two frozen Blue Ice Weekender blocks #1034 in the larger box and fill the remaining space within the large cooler with bubble wrap or inflatable packaging only (no peanuts please, use newspaper or other recyclable materials).

   
   

4. Seal large cooler with packaging tape, place in the cardboard box, seal, and ship using UPS label provided.
